Christopher Cheng is an award winning Australian childen’s author of fiction and non fiction books, including picture books, junior fiction, and novels. He is also the Co-Regional Advisor for SCBWI Australia & New Zealand.

In 1994, his book Eyespy Book of Rainforest Animals was shortlisted by the Wilderness Society for the Environment Award for Children’s Literature.

In 1998, another book, One Child, won as the Wilderness Society Picture Book of the Year. It was also shortlisted for the KOALA.

In 1999, One Child won again — this time as Skipping Stones (USA) Picture Book of the Year. Another book, Rainforests and Alpine Regions (in the Ecosystems of Australia series), was shortlisted by the Wilderness Society for Book of the Year.

His more recently published books are 60 Classic Australian Poems (Random House, 2009); William’s Backyard (Rigby, 2008); The Melting Pot (Scholastic Australia, 2007); Locally Wild (Pluto Press, 2007); 30 Amazing Australian Animals (Random House, 2007); and Seams of Gold (National Museum of Australia, 2007).
