2014 Mar 1 Update — Here are two photos from the Booktalk featuring author illustrator Robert Magnuson. This was held last 2014 February 10 at the premises of OMF Literature’s Hiyas imprint for children’s books, with the help of OMF’s book editor Joanna Nicolas-Na. The photo directly below shows Robert at the extreme right. The lower photo shows our host Joanna in the middle (lady in red blouse). Both photos are copyright 2014 by Nixon Na.
To follow: More photos and notes taken by JB, our freshly recruited assistant for the event. (He’s the guy in the photo above, with eyeglasses in a dark grey shirt, busy typing). Thanks to JB, I was able to concentrate on Robert’s presentation and ask a lot of questions that he very generously answered for the benefit of all who were present.
Nikki, our chapter’s Assistant Regional Advisor, was not present at this Booktalk because she was in Japan attending TPAM 2014 in Yokohama! TPAM stands for The Performing Arts Meeting, and was first launched as the Tokyo Performing Arts Market in 1995. In the near future, we hope to capitalize on Nikki’s experience and professional familiarity with the performing arts to mount an SCBWI event for writers and illustrators not only of children’s and young adult books but for other media as well. —Beaulah
